The Currency Exchange, explained

The Currency Exchange is an in-game order board for stackable items — pick what you have, pick what you want, accept the going rate or set your own, and the trade fills automatically, even while you’re offline.

If you only learn one trading feature, learn this one. The Currency Exchange handles everything stackable: orbs, essences, runes, soul cores, omens, catalysts, distilled emotions, boss fragments. No messaging, no haggling, no meeting anyone in a hideout.

It works like a very polite order board. You tell the exchange vendor in your hideout what you have and what you want. It shows you the live market ratio, pulled from real player orders. Accept that ratio and the trade fills instantly against existing orders; set your own better ratio and it waits for someone to match you — including while you’re logged out.

Fees are paid in gold, the untradeable vendor money the game keeps throwing at you. This is why it throws it at you.

Why this matters for people like us: currency in this game used to be theoretical wealth unless you enjoyed spreadsheets. Now a tab full of miscellaneous essences converts into Exalted Orbs in about a minute. Every currency page on this site has a “worth keeping?” section, and most of them end with “if not, exchange it.”

FAQ

What can I trade on the exchange?

Anything stackable — orbs, essences, runes, soul cores, omens, catalysts, distilled emotions, and boss fragments. Gear is not stackable; that goes through the market or a merchant shop.

Do my orders fill while I’m offline?

Yes. Set the order and walk away.

What are the usual trade currencies?

Most pricing happens in Exalted Orbs day to day, with Divine Orbs as the big denomination. See the glossary for both.
