An ascendancy in Path of Exile 2 is your class’s specialization — a sub-class with its own small passive tree that defines what your character is actually about.
Example: two Rangers can play completely differently because one ascended into one specialization and one into another. The base class is the ingredients; the ascendancy is the recipe.
